10 years since the creation of 4WAYSITE.COM

By: Dave Zimmer and 4 WaySite

It is 10 years this month since the creation of 4 WaySite. The site, like the four individuals we love, has had its ups and downs, but survived to tell the tales and to promote the music.
Let's hope that over the next 10 years there will be more stories to tell and more brilliant music, old and new to celebrate.

Another outtake by Dave Zimmer of an interview with yours truly....

Dolf van Stijgeren

Crosby, Stills & Nash: The Biography "Interview Outtakes"

Dave Zimmer’s Unedited, Previously Unpublished Interviews about CSN&Y with writers Peter Doggett, John Einarson, Johnny Rogan and Steve Silberman.

Dave Zimmer: "With the 40th anniversary of Woodstock at hand, the time feels right to share several short interviews about Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young I did with writer colleagues/ friends back in late 2007 and early 2008. Some of their comments were potentially going to be included in the update chapter for the latest edition of Crosby, Stills & Nash: The Biography".

The question and answer interviews are presented here, in unedited form...

ENTERJohny Barbata – The (Albert Einstein) story of his life

His most famous band memberships have been: The Turtles, The Sentinals, Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship and... CSNY.

The reader will find answers to questions such as:

  • What do you think of Dallas Taylor, Ralph Molina and Jim Morrison ?

  • Is it true you played uncredited on The Byrds reunion album?

  • What do you remember about playing "Wooden Ships" with the Starship?

  • What was the role of Crosby & Nash during the "Time Fades Away" tour?

  • What is the difference between the "CSNY-Neil" and the "solo-Neil"?

Dave Zimmer brings you backstage

Exclusive interview with CSNY insider & expert Dave Zimmer who brings you backstage with CSNY:

  • How close is Dave Zimmer to CSNY?

  • How does Zimmer describe CSNY's internal relationships?

  • Where did CSN really sing together for the first time?

  • Who lived in the house of Nash's song "Our House"?

  • Is the "dark loner" image correct that Neil Young has been tagged with at various points in his career?

  • Etc....

Dallas Taylor 2.0 Tells Me Y…

For CSNY Dallas Taylor is now a persona non grata, but in this exclusive interview he tells many wonderful tales from his time before his estrangement from the CSNY camp; stories that include many details that were previously unknown! A few quotes:

  • "It was Neil that would take his stuff home after we laid down the basic tracks. Then he brought them back for CSN vocals. Very weird."

  • "Jimi Hendrix and I were fighting over the same girl"

  • "It was my closeness with Stephen that got me fired. Neil couldn’t stand Stephen!"

  • "I liked Jim Morrison"

  • "David had an ego to fill Dodger Stadium, but was a talented songwriter"

A Pevarian Experience
– A conversation with Jeff Pevar

This time we talk with none other than David Crosby's favorite guitarist, Jeff Pevar. A guitarist, composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, arranger and vocalist, Pevar (a.k.a. “The Peev”) has recorded, performed and/or toured with some of the finest musicians in the music business.

Perhaps most notably: through being Marc Cohn’s guitarist on a tour supporting Crosby, Stills & Nash, he came into contact with the CSN “family”, which is, of course, of particular interest to readers of 4 WaySite.

Jeff Pevar elaborates about his roots, his projects, making music with Nash, playing guitar with Stills. And not to mention why he picked "Triad" to attract Crosby’s attention, and last but not least, about... CPR..
