24: New
CPR album in the spring
We "borrowed" this post from the CrosbyCPR Bulletin Board:
David Cosby: "so the CPR 2nd record is done .......yeeeeehaw.....out this
spring . probably called "just like gravity" and of course we will come play .....but ...and I have said this before
.....we don't get to pick where we go .....we go where a promoter or clubowner hires us ......call 'em.....beat on their doors
......call the radio station and ask for us .....over and over again.......and there we
will be in your town". January 7: Neil Young
about DVD's and more
There's a Neil Young interview in the February/March issue of Sound & Vision
magazine.
The interview is generally about his working with DVD audio. Here are some of the topics
discussed:
- 30th anniversary re-issue of Harvest on DVD-A with some video and bonus
performances.
- The Neil Young Archives will be released (when?) simultaneously on DVD-A and
CD.
- He's working on a new album with Crazy Horse at Toast
Studios--tentatively titled "Toast"
- Not a word about anything CSNY.
January 5: Jeff Pevar's
(CPR) pre-view on Nash' new album
Jeff Pevar: "I only heard a few tunes...but it is (arguably) his best one
yet....You all will be blown away!!...I can't wait to get it myself....No synths....all
natural, wonderful music the way only Nash himself can do it....He's absolutely on top of
his game...I'm so proud of him... He's gonna take over the world!"
January 3: Stephen
Stills' birthday!
Happy birthday Stephen!
February
18: CSNY on the "Rock Star Index"
Money magazine, along with VH1 has compiled a ranking of Rock/Pop
music stars based on how much money they earned last year from touring and CD sales. Their merchandising was factored in with
a "money-power" rating (from 1 to 5). Also factored in was a subjective rating called "star-power" (from 1 to 5), purporting
to measure their "fan loyalty" and "cross-over appeal" (VH1's contribution....?).
Scanning down the list, you'll find CSNY at #22, primarily based on their successful tour. They had the lowest CD sales of all
(at $7,100,000), but were 8th in box office (at $42,100,000). That combined $49,200,000 might have raised them higher on the
chart, but they were rated lowest (along with Jimmy Buffett and Phish) in "star-power". Their "money-power" (merchandising) was
also rated low (but still higher than Creed or Destiny's Child).
The list is at: http://www.money.com/money/music/rockstar/

10: Stephen Stills "raised the roof"!
From Rock Solid Entertainment, Inc.: "Hollywood, CA, February 6, 2001 - This Wednesday past (1/31/01); the SRO, star-studded
crowd at the China Club ProJam at Barfly was treated to a proprietary show that could only be
witnessed on the ProJam stage! STEPHEN STILLS joined the house band and discernibly
raised the roof with a five song set that included Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young classics like
"Love The One You're With". After, Billy Preston left the room slack-jawed with
tight-as-the-record versions of his hits "Nothin' From Nothin", "Here We Go 'Round In
Circles" and "You Are So Beautiful"!! The ever-fearless Gary
Busey actually followed these guys later in the evening and played a trilogy of the Buddy Holly songs that first put him on the theatrical
map. Of course when you start off with a house band that includes Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, Steve
Ferrone (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers / Eric Clapton's band), Hutch Hutchinson (Bonnie
Raitt's band), Jimmy Roberts (Rod Stewart's band), Lee Thornburg (Tower Of Power),
MIKE FINNEGAN [must be "Finnigan", 4 WaySite] (CSN, Etta James, Jimi Hendrix), Miles Joseph (Aretha Franklin / Bob Dylan) and
Rob Mullins; throw in Steve Lukather (Toto, etc.), then mix in the energy that the room
always bristles with, you end up with a Memphis Soul Stew of magic and electricity that feels
akin to what it must have felt like when these classics were first being played. Pictures from
this show and other ProJams can be seen at www.studioclub.com/ChinaClub2.htm.

"Rumor has it that CSNY are planning to tour Europe in the Summer, and as
soon as details are confirmed they'll be posted on the site, CSNY.com."
February
3: lost five-minute masterpiece,
and more, will be played
Steve Silberman: "You've heard about it. You've seen it on taper's lists. Now, you can tape it -- the great nearly lost five-minute masterpiece of Bay Area psychedelia: David Crosby's "Kids and Dogs," with Garcia on guitars.
On Saturday, February 3rd, David Gans is doing his annual Grateful Dead Marathon to raise funds for KPFA. He's gonna be playing amazing shit day and night, from 9am til 1am, including a studio out-take of the Dead singing "Goodnight Irene," and lots of other mind-melting stuff.
At about 12 noon Pacific time (give or take a few hippie minutes), I'll be joining Gans for a little segment on the great collaborations between Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and the Boys back in the early ''70s. I'll play some stuff you've never heard, including a stunning solo acoustic demo of Crosby's song "Lady Friend" from the Byrds days -- a rare track even in its studio incarnation (finally included on last year's CD rerelease of "Younger Than Yesterday.")
I'll also play "Kids and Dogs," one of the few AUTHENTIC out-takes from Crosby's mind-blowing album "If I Could Only Remember My Name." (There are lots of tapes circulating that claim to be outtakes, but they're not. This is the real deal!) Recorded in 1970, it's a very stoney performance of one of Crosby's most exquisitely beautiful and haunting melodies, composed during the same golden age of his songwriting when he produced "Guinnevere" and "Wooden Ships." It's NEVER appeared on an album in any form. There's a luminous few seconds when Garcia even plays a duet with himself. Crosby's harmonies are like buttah. This is healing music!
If you don't live in the Bay Area, you can also tape it from the Net by following these instructions:
You can listen and pledge online at http://www.kpfa.org. KPFA broadcasts at 94.1 in northern California, and also through KFCF 88.1 in Fresno. Both
http://www.kpfa.org and http://www.kfcf.org will have high-quality MP3 feeds.
The main feed will be through SonicFocus: http://www.sonicfocus.com/kpfa/. There will be a live chat room at that site. You can email David Gans at david@gdhour.com -- he'll be online throughout the day and night.
This is one of my favorite pieces of music of all time, as many of you already know. If you haven't heard it yet, you want it.
Listen. Tape. Make a pledge. Thanks, Steve Silberman!"

1: With whom is Graham Nash working with on
his new solo album?
From http://www.suitelorraine.com:
An excerpt from the Nash cover story, text by Mr. Bonzai© "While visiting, we ate fresh oranges and listened to rough mixes from his upcoming solo album, which was tracked last October at O'Henry Studios in Los Angeles.
Russell Kunkel is co-producing with Nathaniel Kunkel (engineer and producer, who supervised the acquisitions, the wiring, and the sturdy road cases for the new studio.)
Russell will be providing his special drummers signature, with Dean Parks and Steve Ferris on
guitars. Matt Rawlingson keyboards, Victor Krause on bass, Dan Dougmore on pedal steele, and Lenny Castro on percussion. Mixdown took place at LA's Conway Recording." March

June 29: 4 WaySite went
to Venice show!
OK, no Neil Young show but a Venice
show in the Netherlands instead. The 4 WaySite website managers were
highly impressed by the GREAT Venice performance in Haarlem (yes the New
York Harlem is named after the Dutch Haarlem). We would like to encourage every CSNY fan to listen to Venice, you wont
be disappointed! You can check the Venice website
http://www.venicecentral.com.
June 24: 4 WaySite team
arrives one month too early at Neil concert.
No matter what the ticket said, the 4
WaySite management decided to go to Rotterdam to see whether Neil would
knock of the Ahoy's roof during the concert. They were surprised by
having that much parking space and that there were no hippies to welcome
them. After studying the ticket and the billboard they came to the
conclusion that they were there one month too early. Well Neil, we checked the venue, it seems to be allright and see you in
a month. Thanx Dolf ;)
June
20: Email problems 4 WaySite solved.
After quite some time we finally managed to
retrieve email messages again. Unfortunately we are not able to respond
to all lost emails. So in case you did not get an answer, please send us

19: Neil Young pulled the plug on BBC.
At the last minute Neil pulled the plug on BBC coverage of his gig at
the Fleadh in London at the weekend. The BBC were confident it would be
broadcast almost into the evening. Apparently negotiations went on all
day but Neil decided not to broadcast. That was what 'Whispering' Bob
Harris had to say on his 2300hrs. programme.
June
18: 8 NEW songs on new CPR tour.
Last week the CPR tour started and they played 8 NEW

taking images. And the new album due in August too - can't wait". July

Buffalo Springfield's short, sweet life is revisited in a four-CD collection. July
11: CPR and Venice in Amsterdam,
music is love...
Yesterday both Venice

started doing an acoustic show. Pat Lennon was biting his
fingernails off as the moment of the entrance of David came nearer.
David was constantly looking trough the curtain, watching the show and
eager to join in.

July 11: New Neil
Young & Crazy Horse release? Neil Young and Crazy Horse have been playing four new songs while on
tour in Europe. Some rumors along the current NY & CH tour at Europe
say, that there is a release of a new record of them at the 13th of
July in THIS year..! Maybe they were recording this past spring. Are
there issues of conflict with the upcoming Archives?
July 4: More CPR shows
in the Netherlands Two more shows of CPR (Crosby Pevar Raymond) and a TV shoot
in Happy Holland! Perfect summer weather, long days (daylight to 11pm).
Sorry to the folks in Oslo and Stockholm. Nobody seems to really
know why the changes happened yet, but the advance ticket sales were
probably low in Scandinavia (Copenhagen wil happen) and perhaps other
opportunities came in the Netherlands:
-
July 11, Zoetermeer
-
July 12, Lemmer Beach Festival (with Venice!)
-
July 13, 2 Meter Sessies TV in Hilversum
July
1: Venice will be joining CPR on stage
Venice will be joining CPR in Paradiso,
Amsterdam, on July the 10th. It is likely they will do Guinnevere
and of course other songs....
Again, we encourage every CSNY fan to listen to Venice, you wont
be disappointed! Check the Venice website http://www.venicecentral.com.
August 25: New CSNY tour?
A Newspaper called the Boston Globe, is talking about a CSNY
tour for 2002.
Quote: "When Young returns next summer, that will again pump
up the CSN&Y legacy. But in talking to Crosby, it's clear that
he doesn't want his lesser-known band, CPR, to get lost in the shuffle.
It shouldn't, because the latest CPR album, ''Just Like Gravity,'' is
filled with rich vocal harmonies and a resonant, almost art-song depth
that should land it on a number of Top 10 lists this year, though radio
programmers have generally been clueless about it."
August 20: New Stills album?
When the CSN tour ends in September, Stills says he has an
album's worth of new solo stuff that's nearly ready for release.
Stephen Stills: "I recorded it at my own expense and I'll
probably skip the label and go right to the Net. I haven't even shopped
it. I don't want to be told that it doesn't fit into someone's plans."
August
14: CSN opening night
About 7000 people saw last night the opening of the CSN 2K1
tour! Not only old chestnuts (yes Cathedral is back on the set list) but
also a new Nash song: Dirty Little Secrets. They were supported by Joe
Vitale, Mike Finnigan, and Gerald Johnson.
August
14: Today Crosby's birthday
Happy 60th birthday David!
Don't forget to listen to listen to the station wfuv which is Fordham university's public radio. Check out www.wfuv.com
August
12: Stills'voice
Last year there were speculations about Stills' voice (dental
problems?).
Graham Nash: "I actually think whatever problems he had were
clearing up last year, as his voice sounded great at The Bridge show
& acoustic CSN Santa Barbara show from last year to me"
August
6: David Crosby's birthday
On Tuesday August 14th they will be celebrating David Crosby's 60th birthday
with CSN, CSNY and Crosby music (it looks like all day) including an interview
(probably pre-recorded) with CPR starting at 11am.
September 16: CSN tour resumes
Today the CSN 2K1 tour resumes! See this
section
for more info.
September 16: CSN to be on Jay
Leno From the
CSN
site. Graham Nash: "We have a day off on Tuesday and Jay Leno called
and he wanted to open up the first Jay Leno show on Monday but he
realizes CSN would be the perfect band to open up but realized that
we're on tour on Monday. So he stopped the opening of The Tonight Show
until Tuesday so that he could fly us down to do the Tuesday
night show, the opening show."
September
15: CSN tour update
Stephen Barncard: "The band decided to head straight
for LA that afternoon and left on their tour busses. If they didn't
have their busses, they'd be really screwed.
As far as 'rescheduling' that's fine and dandy for these press folks to
speculate, but indeed a whole new TOUR has to be planned if any shows
are to be. The tour does not travel by air, but on land, especially now.
It's way too expensive to fly anywhere with all the equipment and
personnel for one show. Folks take a look at the tour credits and the
tour schedule. They have 5 busses and 2 heavy trucks that must go on a
tour that's carefully designed to be less than half a day's drive to the
next gig or they couldn't do it. I've got the itinerary right here and
it's amazing how tightly orchestrated this tour is... that's why the
busses leave right after the show and the meet and greets often don't
happen (except for the Buffalo gigs).
This goes for any other show that venues say is being 'rescheduled'. I'd
advise you get refunds on your tickets now until there are concrete
plans to return."
September 11: 4 WaySite team
shocked after terror
We are horrified and shocked, and couldn't believe our ears
and eyes when we saw this needless destructions and killing of innocent civilians!
All who can donate blood at this time should do so now. There will
be plenty of need for it. Doesn't matter what city you're in,
they'll transfer it to where its needed.
After the US is hit by terror, the CSN shows in Denver, CO, and
Albuquerque, NM are postponed.
September
1: Update on new Nash solo album
A personal note to the 4 WaySite management team.
Graham Nash: "I'll release the record and the book of my photos
at the same time in the spring."
October 25: CSN on New York's

13: Stephen Stills playing two nights?
An ad in the Lexington newspaper says Stills is playing two
nights at the Belterra Casino in southeast Indiana. The ad says
November 15 & 16 and so says the reservations staff there. The
website has the wrong dates. Tickets are $30 and go on sale October
29. Checking the website, www.belterracasino.com,
it appears that it's a 1,450 seat theatre.
October 12: UK magazines with
high Crosby content - a plea to Roger
McGuinn? Not just one but two magazines out in the UK with significant
Crosby content:
- "Uncut" magazine- 1 page article, 1 page BW photo in their
"We have ways of making you talk section" - part history
(pre-Byrds, Byrds, LA scene, CSNY, meeting James, and finally a bit of
politics)
- "Mojo Collections" magazine - 5 pages with 1 full page
photo. Interesting one this as it is a discussion about Crosby's
friends. The article is broken into sections on each person. The
people covered are Fred Neil, Paul Katner, Bob Dylan, Roger McGuinn,
Hugh Masakela, Graham Nash, Joni Mitchell, Jerry Garcia, Johnny Marr,
Melissa Ethridge and James Raymond. A good article with some info I
had never heard before about a Crosby/ Marr collaboration.
Interestingly both articles contain a plea to Roger McGuinn to get back
together with Chris and him for one last Byrds reunion - says Cros in the
Uncut piece - "I wish he would forgive whatever it is and come and do
it with me and Chris while we're still alive cos Michael and Gene are
gone. And God knows I how long I'm gonna last! I am a transplant, we don't
last long."
October 4: Press release from CSN
managenment Press release from Management Network and Gerry Tolman
(manager of CSN), Thursday, October 4, 2001:
Half Your Angels, the Graham Nash song written years ago after the
Oklahoma tragedy but now even more poignant and timely, will
hereafter be available only as a streaming Realplayer file at the
http://crosbystillsnash.com
site, as CSN and Clear Channel Entertainment want to direct any profit
from the use and play of this song towards the ClearChannel fund. So
far the fund has raised in excess of 9 million for the NY City
Firefighters Widows and Orphans Fund and the Red Cross.
Clearchannel will distribute the track to their 1100 stations and will
promote it on the air. The track will also be promoted by Album Network
and a press campaign.
Listeners will be directed to the Clearchannel website that will link to
Liquid Audio where the track can be purchased for $ 2. 50. The proceeds
will go to the Clearchannel fund on behalf of CSN.
Also a commemorative pressed CD will be made available through the
http://crosbystillsnash.com
website.
This is all to happen within the week or 10 days. Check with
http://crosbystillsnash.com
often for updates.

93 on September 11th, is surfacing at radio stations across the country
this week. Young wrote and recorded the song two weeks ago after reading
a news story on one of the flight's passengers, Todd Beamer.
The song's title is taken from a phrase passenger Beamer was apt to use
and one he did when he phoned, from the plane, a GTE Airfone operator,
explaining the situation the passengers' plan to overpower the
terrorists. As he hung up with the Airfone operator, he was heard
saying, 'Let's roll'."

5: Graham Nash pays tribute to George Harrison
Graham Nash is issuing the following statement today on
George Harrison’s passing: "In all the years I have known
George, I found him to be an incredible human being. He was a strong but
gentle man who always took the time to look you in the eye and give you
a straight answer. I am sure he handled his transition with the same
quiet dignity that he lived all of his life. He will certainly be
missed, and his music will live on forever. My only regret about the
situation apart from my personal feelings toward him and his family is
wondering what other songs were in his mind that we will never get to
hear."
