December 14 : Young received nominations
In the Grammy announcements on December 8th, Young received nominations for Rock Album of the Year for "Prairie Wind" and Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for the song "The Painter" from that album.

Neil Young will appear on NBC-TV's "Saturday Night Live" on December 17th, performing music from his Grammy Award-nominated "Prairie Wind" album. The recent album has been receiving accolades since its release in September, and is cited on many critical lists as one of 2005's best albums of the year.

The SXSW Keynote will take place Thursday, March 16, 2006.

April 5 : K.d. lang covered "Helpless"
K.d. lang covered Neil Young's "Helpless" in his honor at Canada's Juno Awards, to honor him and wish him a speedy recovery.
Read the complete story.

April 5 : Neil Young out of hospital
Neil Young is out of hospital and expected to make a full recovery after undergoing surgery in New York for a potentially fatal brain aneurysm, his publicist says: "He's out of the hospital and recuperating in New York," .
Young underwent what doctors described as "minimally invasive neuroradiology" on Tuesday, after an MRI scan - conducted after he complained of blurred vision - revealed a dangerous brain aneurysm.
"The doctors say his progress has been excellent and the expectation is that he will make a full recovery," Mr Merlis said.
He says Young will go to Nashville in the next few days to finish some recording work [...!!].

Neil had to cancel his performance last Sunday at the Juno Awards, the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys.

April 1 : Neil Young Recovering from Brain Aneurysm
After performing with the Pretenders on March 14 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in New York, Neil Young experienced what his publicist describes as "visual field disturbances," and an MRI scan revealed the source of the problem.
Rather than have surgery immediately, Neil spent the next week in Nashville recording for an as-yet-unrevealed project. Tuesday's (March 29) procedure has been called "a complete success," and Neil is expected to make a full recovery. But he has been forced to cancel his planned Sunday (April 3) appearance at Canada's Juno Awards while he recuperates.

Neil Young: "I grew up (in Winnipeg) and was really looking forward to the show as well as spending some time with my old friends and family. Thanks to my doctors, I'm feeling a lot better now, so I hope I can get a rain check."

An aneurysm is a bulge in a blood vessel, much like a bulge on an over-inflated inner tube, and can be fatal if it ruptures, causing a hemorrhagic stroke. During minimally invasive neuroradiology procedures, doctors insert a catheter through the groin and into the brain, and small coils are used to clear up the bulge.

Neil, get well soon!
