CSNY Live DVD/CD in
2007?
2006 |
December 24 | 4waysite.com
With 2007 right around the corner we are thrilled to announce the long-awaited Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young live album may finally
appear in 2007. David Crosby says that all four artists are listening to tapes from the quartet's summer tour and are beginning to make
choices about what to include in the package.
David Crosby: "I've been listening to the tracks, and they are good. And I think there will be a CSNY live
CD. I think it will be from the last tour, because that was when we finally got the right bass player and drummer, and that was when we
finally had some new material. And the new material really made a difference, man, because once we mastered it and we could deliver it,
it made us believe in ourselves again."
The new material Crosby refers to hailed from Neil Young's heavily political album Living With War, which he released before the tour
and is re-releasing Tuesday (December 19th) as Living With War/In the Beginning, featuring raw and demo versions of the songs.
Young is also putting together a documentary film from this year's tour, which is expected to accompany the live CD release.

Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun dies
2006 |
December 15 | Associated Press and 4waysite.com
Ahmet Ertegun, who helped define American music as the founder of
Atlantic Records, a label that popularized the gritty R&B of Ray
Charles, the classic soul of Aretha Franklin and the British rock of the
Rolling Stones [4waysite.com: and CSNY] , died Thursday at 83, his
spokesman said.
CSN were signed to Atlantic Records by Ahmet Ertegun, who had
been a fan of the Springfield and disappointed by that band's demise. Then
he convinced CSN to allow Neil Young to join them on one of their tours,
thereby founding Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. After several meetings,
the trio expanded to a quartet with Young a full partner.
More information about Ahmet Ertegun can found on Wikipedia.

Living With War - Raw
2006 |
December 6 | neilyoung.com
"Living With War - Raw" (aka "In The Beginning") is
a new CD/DVD version coming on December 19th that includes the original
mixes done the day of each session (the CD-only version is out on iTunes
today as well). These raw mixes do not include the choir that was added in
L.A. the week after the original recordings were done. These recordings
are not remixed. They are the first mixes that were made in the heat of
the moment. Although they are not polished, they represent the essence of
Living With War, in the beginning.
Included in the new set is a DVD of all 10 of the videos done in the LWW
network form, as well as all 10 of the documentary videos of the original
sessions. These Living with War documentary videos show the choir and the
sessions, day by day, as the project was evolving.
The Raw version "In the Beginning" is a separate CD within the
package. This new LWW package, including the Raw CD and the DVD of the
videos, along with a new cover, will be released on December 19th.

Behind the Songs -
coming section
2006 |
November 12 | Dolf van
Stijgeren
I am building several new sections for 4waysite.com. Beside the new Tours section, I am building a section called Behind the Songs (working title).
This year I was in France and accidently ended up in Beaugency ("Orléans,
Beaugency, Notre-Dame de Cléry, Vendôme") where an idea
was born: www.4waysite.com/behindsongs/index.htm .
I am convinced you like it, but I want to add more (Stills, Nash and Young)
songs to this coming section and your contribution is highly appreciated!
Think of a story behind a CSNY song you like and mail (hit Contact) it to us
today and you will have a preview of the Tours section!
There are only less than 1000 songs left... but the section is destined to
be a classic!

Graham Nash to Make Northern California Appearances
2006 |
November 2 | San Francisco PRNewswire
After joining former president Bill
Clinton on November 1 (see previous message), today Graham Nash dons his visual artist and cyber-
visionary hats for two events related to Butte College's exhibition of his
photographic work.
At 2PM, Nash will speak at the school's innovative Digital Outdoor Gallery on their main Oroville, CA campus, where his
photographs are to be displayed in newly installed, weatherized cases. The
images were selected by Dennis Wickes, a Multimedia Department instructor and advisor for student organization Butte Art & Design (BAD); he conceived
the show after seeing the museum exhibition Eye to Eye: Photographs by Graham Nash in Southern California in early '06. Earlier this year, Wickes
also visited Nash Editions, revered for its pioneering inventions in digital fine art printing, which Graham co-founded in 1990 with Mac
Holbert, who will be present as well. Situated equidistant between the cities of Chico, Paradise and Oroville, Butte College is located at 3536
Butte Campus Drive, Oroville, CA, 95965 (and online at www.butte.edu).
At 7PM on Nov. 2, Nash and Holbert will also attend a second
reception -- open to the public -- at 222 2nd Street in downtown Chico,
adjacent to Butte's 2nd Street Digital Outdoor Gallery. In addition to the
eight images on view in Oroville -- including portraits of David Crosby,
Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Nash's self-portrait from the book cover of
Eye To Eye -- five more will be on display outside at the 2nd Street
Gallery, and seventeen more will be hung inside the reception space. For
more information, contact Prof. Wickes' office at 530-895-2975.
Originally published in hardcover in 2004, the book Eye to Eye:
Photographs by Graham Nash will be released as a softcover edition in
Spring 2007 by Five Ties Publishing.

Neil Young Remixes, Shoots Videos For Latest Album
2006 |
October 21
Neil Young will try to wring some more life out of his "Living With War" album by releasing a version featuring different mixes from what appeared on the original earlier this

The new edition of the record, "Living With War - Raw", will more accurately represent the live in-studio performances by Young, bassist Rick Rosas and drummer Chad Cromwell without the overdubs and backing vocals that were added later. Reprise will make it available through iTunes on November 7, while physical copies will arrive
on Amazon.com
on December 19.
As previously reported, Young will be in action this weekend as he hosts the 20th Bridge School Benefit outside San Francisco. Also on the bill are Pearl Jam, Trent

Graham Nash is
unhurt
2006 |
October 16
A small earthquake shook the Hawaiian island
Oahu, but there were no reports of damage and
no threat of a tsunami, officials said, and it has been reported by sources that Graham
Nash and his family, who have a residence in Hawaii, are OK. Why
Hawaii?
Graham Nash: "I have done my snow years here in Manchester,
freezing my ass off. I saw Hawaii and it looked like paradise to me. I
could not believe that the land was that beautiful and that some of it was
for sale. I think we bought it within an hour"
Many residents felt the quake in Kaneohe, Kailua, Hawaii Kai and as far as
downtown Honolulu and Mililani. "I was sitting on my rocker chair,
and it slid on the floor," a Kaneohe resident said.

Neil
Young talks about his new film
2006 | October 15
Rick Moody talks to Neil Young and Jonathan Demme about their new film collaboration.
The new Neil Young film, Heart of Gold, is shot in luscious sepia tones by
Jonathan Demme, the director of arguably the best rock film ever made -
the Talking Heads movie Stop Making Sense. Heart of Gold appears at first
blush to be precisely the opposite kind of project to Year of the Horse.

16 : Graham Nash Photo Show of CSNY
Rock 'n' roll fans should go check out the more than 50
photographs of legends such as Bob Dylan and Neil Young. But besides
having unique access to musicians, Graham Nash has spent the last 50 years
developing a photo diary and signature style of taking self-portraits.
He's also considered one of the early pioneers of digital photography and
printing. In the '90s, he started one of the first fine-art digital
printmaking studios with his road manager, R. Mac Holbert, and Nash was of
the first photographers to exhibit a digital print portfolio.

11 : Today
funeral of Gerry Tolman
Today will be a sad day: the funeral of Gerry
Tolman is going to take place.
Stephen Stills: "Gerry
was my rock, my protector and my best friend. He helped me do my art
without being distracted by the slings and arrows of our crazy and
wonderful business. I doubt I will meet his like again. I offer my
condolences to his family and his friends, who number in the hundreds. I
believe that ultimately, this will pull us all together."
He also played guitar with Stills' band and wrote, performed and produced
with CSN.
We wish
David,
Stephen and Graham, and of course Gerry's family, a lot of strength.
You can read the official press
release here.

2 : CSN
manager Gerry Tolman died
We just heard extremely sad news: CSN's manager
and personal friend Gerry Tolman was killed in an automobile accident in
Calabasas, California on New Year's Eve (December 31, 2005). He was
divorced and had two children, a daughter (Jenn, 21) and a son (Jon, 18).
Our deepest sympathy goes out to David,
Stephen and Graham, and of course to Gerry's family.
