Stephen Stills' Fall

July 12 : CSNY 2006 Tour - updated
Stephen Stills fell down at the concert yesterday and injured his hand. They ended without doing an encore.
From a fan: "An odd thing happened at the start of RITFW - right after the first verse, I think. NY stepped back from the mic, then either knelt down and  patted the floor while looking in Spooner's direction, or else he slipped and broke his fall with his left hand, or else he was pointing something out to someone in wings on Spooner's side.
Later in the solos, Stills started to mimic NY. NY would bend over, cradle Old Black and do that machine-gun whammy shake. Stills moved alongside and did something similar. The crowd goes nuts. Then NY put one foot on his monitor and leaned out towards the crowd. Then Stills stepped onto his monitor, but the monitor rotated and Stills lost his balance. He fell ignobly to the floor, and ended up with his back on the monitor, facing the drums, kind of on his left side. It looked quite painful. Someone on the left waved out a stagehand, and they came out the help Stills up (shades of Spinal Tap?) but Stills waved them back. He stayed on his back until NYfinished his solo, then got up.
After a while I noticed that he had wrapped a towel around the ring and pinky fingers of his left hand, but continued playing. The song ended, and Stills unwrapped the towel and looked at his hand. He cursed like a  sailor (if you could read his lips). He showed his hand to NY who also cursed. He showed it to Nash who looked concerned. As they lined up for a bow, Stills looked like he was in real pain. He showed his hand to Cromwell, and Cromwell  grimaced. They left the stage, and the stagehands were setting things up for an encore (probably Woodstock), but then someone came out and announced that they would have to stop the show because Stills badly injured his hand.
Uh-oh! Well there's a bit of a break before the next show, so I hope Stills is ok by then!
