Neil Young
criticised for failing to back guitar string charity
2007 |
December 19 | wenn.com
Neil Young has been criticised after
refusing to support a new charity campaign. WearYourMusic.org
founder and Relix magazine boss Steve Bernstein asked the star to
donate guitar strings for a fundraising initiative - and was stunned
when the rock star turned him down.
Bernstein plans to turn the donated
strings into bracelets and sell them on auction website eBay.com -
and hand the proceeds to charities of the stars' choice. Keith
Richards, Slash and Pete Townshend are among the guitar greats who
have sent Bernstein strings, and raised thousands of dollars for
good causes.
Bernstein says, "Neil Young is the
only person who has said no without giving a reason. Paul McCartney
is already backing a different charity with bracelets, so he
declined. "Young gave no reason. And I can't understand it, because
it's so easy to just get his guitar tech to send in strings.
"He doesn't have to perform, and the proceeds would go to a charity
of his choice."

New York fire
officials delay Neil Young concert
2007 |
December 14 | reuters.com
NEW YORK (Billboard)
- A New York Fire Department investigation delayed the start of a
Neil Young concert by almost 90 minutes on Wednesday, forcing about
3,300 confused fans to wait outside in a line stretching around the
block.
Fire officials were checking that the 77-year-old United Palace
Theatre was up to code. Young called it a "bull---t excuse," once he
finally took the stage, but then joked, "unless I catch on fire or
something."
His wife, Pegi, was supposed to open the show around 8 p.m., but
since no one was allowed in until well after 9 p.m., it was decided
that her performance would be scrapped.
Young is scheduled to play five additional nights at the converted
movie theater, which is now owned by a church.

The

feature films for 2008 highlighted by a closing night movie about CSNY.
The festival, which was founded by actor Robert Redford as a showcase
for movies made outside Hollywood, has become the premiere event for
U.S. independent cinema and has built a strong reputation as a major
event for foreign filmmakers.
This year's closing-night film will
be the world premiere of Bernard Shakey's "CSNY Deja Vu," which looks at
the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young reunion tour and the musicians'
connection to its audience in political and musical terms. Bernard

(2003). Neil Young is credited as a co-writer on the project...

David Crosby Claims New
Film as his own Biopic
2007 |
November 23 | wenn.com
From
pr-inside.com: Rocker DAVID CROSBY has adopted new film AUGUST RUSH as
his biopic - even though the film, about a music prodigy looking for the
parents who seemingly abandoned him at birth wasn't inspired by him.
Crosby was asked to consult on the film's soundtrack and, after reading
the script, he realised the story echoed that of his own reunion with
the son he never knew.
Screenwriter James Hart reveals, "He read the script and said, 'This was
my story'."
Graham Nash appears in an

2007 |
November 19 | 4waysite.com
Graham Nash appears in an streaming interview on the front page of the
website novatunes.com
The start up will be this next week if all goes well.
NovaTunes embraces a "Hear, Like, Buy" approach: users can hear each
album in full and if they like it, they can buy and download it
directly. Music fans can also join "artist networks" where musicians and
their audience meet. They can discuss music, write reviews and recommend
other NovaTunes artists they like. This type of "social network" is a
great way to discover new music and new artists.
Graham Nash, who has joined the Board of Advisors of the company, is a
firm supporter of the NovaTunes model: "The music industry is in dire
straits and solutions are coming from companies like NovaTunes. The
people at NovaTunes understand the internet and take advantage of it by
creating a space for musicians to connect to their fans and to release
new music instantly to them, wherever in the world they are. It's a
fabulous business model and that's why I wanted to join in and help them
and push them as far as they can go, because this is the future".
The company currently represents over 60 artists in the singer-
songwriter and rock-genres, including established artists such as Jackson Browne, Leon Russell, Graham Nash, Julia Fordham, Chris Hillman
and developing artists like Joe Purdy, Meiko, Bow Thayer and Devon
Allman's HoneyTribe. The NovaTunes roster spans all over the world from
the US to the UK, from Australia to Brazil, appealing to music fans of
all countries and age groups, catering specifically to adult music
lovers (25-65). NovaTunes expects to release at least two new DPs each
week. The company continues to look for great music from all over the
world.

Neil Young to Appear on
CNN's "American Morning"
2007 |
November 18 | marketwire.com
Neil
Young will be interviewed on CNN's "American Morning" on Monday,
November 19th. Young, in the middle of a North American tour, went to
Wichita, Kansas to meet with John Goodwin, who is converting Young's
1959 Lincoln Continental Mark IV convertible to run on biodiesel and
electricity. Young and Goodwin describe the new fuel-efficient life of
the car and how it holds exciting possibilities for the future.
Neil Young is directing a movie about the experience, including the
drive from Northern California to Kansas to deliver the vehicle. Titled
"Linc-Volt," the film is scheduled for a 2008 release. Once the
conversion is complete, Young will drive the Lincoln from Wichita to
Detroit for meetings with the auto industry, and then return to Kansas
to retrace the route back to Northern California, raising awareness of
the feasibility of hybrid-powered cars within the mainstream
consciousness. He describes the Lincoln's new form and function as the
embodiment of "classic Americana from then, meeting the Americana from
now." The Linc-Volt is expected to achieve up to 100 miles per gallon on
the highway.
"American Morning" airs on the CNN television network 6-9 a.m. EST. Neil
Young's interview will also be featured on

Raitt, Browne & Nash Rerock Against Nukes

Bonnie Raitt is once again giving the government something to talk about.
The titian-haired songstress joined fellow rocker-activists Jackson Browne and Graham Nash in Washington, D.C., Tuesday to dissuade
Congress from approving as much as $50 billion in federal loan guarantees for nuclear power plants.
On Monday night, Raitt, Browne and Nash were joined onstage by Hall, who's now a Democratic congressman from New York, during a private
concert on Capitol Hill for members of the House and Senate who might consider X-ing the loan guarantee from the energy bill.
Raitt said Tuesday that she and her fellow concerned rock stars haven't ruled out staging another series of musical events to rally
for the cause.

Astrid Young releases book about life with... Neil
2007 |
October 20 | pagesbooks.ca
Neil's half-sister Astrid Young, is releasing a book about the life with Neil.
In "Being Young," (Insomniac Press) Astrid Young, gives us an intimate portrait of the private man behind the public performer. Taking up where their father, journalist Scott Young, left off in his
best-selling 1984 book "Neil and Me," Astrid offers a fresh perspective on a cultural icon. She explores the events and motivations that shaped their family, drove it apart, and eventually brought the Youngs back together as a close-knit brood.
Being Young gives readers a privileged, insider's look at not only the man but the people and issues that are most dear to him. We see the rocker as a loving husband and father, as a sociopolitical activist, and most of all, as a survivor.
Sharing the family gift for music, Astrid Young has toured solo, with her band Sacred Child, and as a backup singer for Neil Young & Crazy Horse.
Next week she will discuss her life, career and her celebrity sibling with ethnomusicologist, Professor Rob Bowman.

"Nash and Crosby were superb Sunday night.
Crosby looked great and sounded simply magnificent, blowing away the 2,000 or so fans in the baby boomer-dominated crowd with a strong, sure voice that didn’t sound tarnished by time, booze or drugs. Crosby looked healthy … having dropped 53 pounds … and was plenty feisty on Sunday night. Fans certainly noticed; their cheers were a mix of admiration and awe after Crosby sang the first verse to

Crosby & Nash Pray For Peace -
Updated
2007 |
October 17 | washingtonpost.com
It was the coolest of church coffeehouses.
"Thanks for coming to give peace a chance," David Crosby told the crowd of more than 2,500 at Washington National Cathedral, before he and Graham Nash launched into "Lay Me Down."
With white hair and dark clothes, and flanked by pulpits, Nash looked a little like a singing televangelist. "I would like to congratulate Bishop John Chane for being brave enough to do this," he told the gathering.
"These are desperate times, calling for desperate answers," Nash said. The first step to peace, he added, is dialogue. "I'm 65 years old. . . . My time is passing." He said his activism now is on behalf of his three children.
There was a guitarist and a hand drummer. Crosby's son, James Raymond, played keyboards. Crosby and Nash sang "Jesus of Rio" and a new Nash song, a musical prayer titled "In Your Name." Then Crosby picked up a guitar and they sang the heavenly "Guinnevere."
Browne and Nash performed a haunting version of "Crow on the Cradle" and were joined by Crosby for "Lives in the Balance." And many of the night's entertainers gathered for the finale, "Teach Your Children."
The story behind the music: The Dalai Lama was speaking at Washington National Cathedral in 2003, when Chane looked down from the dais and recognized Nash and Crosby in the congregation. He invited them to his office after the event. A former professional musician himself, the bishop plays drums in a midlife-crisis band, the Chane Gang. Nash saw Chane's drum set in the office and the two began talking about the power of music.

Chris Matthews Riffs With Anti-war Rockers Crosby and Nash
2007 | October
16 | newsbusters.org
Chris Matthews joined anti-war rockers David Crosby and Graham Nash as they pined for the good old days of Vietnam war era campus activism and hoped it would rise up again to oppose the "shameless liars" in the Bush administration. Invited on Monday night's "Hardball" to promote their appearance at a peace concert at the National Cathedral, Crosby and Nash riffed with the "Hardball" host about everything from the trashing of the Dixie Chicks and Bill Maher to how Big Oil has made "obsence" profits off the Iraq war.
Crosby and Nash received such a friendly audience from Matthews that Nash actually sucked up to his host as he credited Matthews, along with Keith Olbermann, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, as the only ones who are really "asking the questions".
Musicians Petition Against Nuclear Power
2007 | October 15 | nukefree.org
Some powerful names are listed on a new petition asking Congress to stop bailing out the nuclear power
industry. Musicians like Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne and Graham Nash have released a new YouTube video in
which they speak about the pending energy bill that provides loans for nuclear power plants to get built.
As they sing a rendition of Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth," they urge viewers to sign a petition
demanding tax dollars not go towards benefiting the nuclear power industry. The
trio of singers hopes to then deliver the petition to Congress on October 23rd, which is known as Lobby Day in Washington D.C. This isn't
the first time the musicians have fought against nuclear power, they've been protesting it
since the 1970's. Melissa Etheridge, Ben Harper, Patti Smith, Pearl Jam, Herbie Hancock and many other
artists are also taking part in the petition.

Crosby & Nash Tour -

A
CSNY fan kindly sent us a review that we would like to share
with you.
By: Nicholas Dunn Date: 30 September 2007 Venue: Thomas Wolfe Auditorium Location: Asheville, NC
At 8:02pm the house lights went dark and there they were. Two friends and tour companions going on 40 years now, Crosby & Nash. With a packed house of 2,500, Graham Nash announced "This is the first song of the tour" and excitedly began to sing "Military Madness." It seems as though the two haven't lost a step in the 40+ years they've have been performing music. Not one time in the 20 song performance did the two ever get out of key or off beat, like a fine wine Crosby & Nash seem to get better with age. Without the pressure of CSN or CSNY, Graham Nash proudly stated: "We can play whatever the hell we want on these tours" and to this effect the two of them meant it. On the stage, a pleasant happiness of the old companionship of the early 70s is still there, Crosby & Nash throwing jokes back and forth to one another and laughing between songs. Aside from the occasional fan yelling out to hear a Stephen Stills song, the two never seemed to flicker and would gladly play old favorites and the occasional new tune of the 2004 Crosby - Nash album. I must say and incredible first show, no Young, no Stills, but for the 2,500 in attendance Crosby & Nash were all that seem to matter. Pure magic.....
The attached set list was posted yesterday.
Neil Young third most underrated guitarist
2007 | October
3 | rollingstone.com
From Rolling Stone's "The Twenty-Five Most Underrated Guitarists": Statistics show that the average rock fan spends roughly 4.7 hours per year arguing over who’s the greatest guitarist of all time (see: Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time). We asked you who’s most criminally left out of those discussions — in other words, who are the most underrated guitarists ever?
The top three: 1. Prince 2. Kurt Cobain 3. Neil Young
Here is the complete list and use your own
judgment, but Jeff Pevar is so underrated that he can’t even make this list.

David Crosby and Graham Nash celebrate legacy
2007 | October 2 | courier-journal.com
Last
Sunday the Crosby & Nash tour began and we found the very first
review.
The Courier Journal: "Their show Monday night at The Kentucky
Center's Whitney Hall was a celebration of their music's legacy and of 40
years together. It was a vital, often beautiful performance marked by
enduring songs and the friends' obvious pleasure at sharing a stage one
more time."
Nash Looks Back With Extensive Boxed Set
2007 | October 1 | billboard.com
Looking back with an eye on the future is what Graham Nash has been up to these days. The rock veteran
told Billboard.com he's putting the finishing touches on a 65-song career-retrospective box set, "Reflection," due in February.
"I've been remixing songs for my box set," says Nash, 65.
"It starts in 1964 and ends in 2004. So it's the Hollies to the last record that David (Crosby) and I put out. And everything is in there. It's me solo, me with Crosby, me with Neil (Young), me with Stephen (Stills) and Neil, and me with Stephen, Neil and
David."
He adds, "I had never actually listened to 65 pieces of my own music in a row. Why would I ever have the need to do that? But it was very interesting. I'm a pretty decent
writer."
Among the material included in the box set will be unreleased tracks, as well as different versions or mixes of previously released songs.

Poco drummer needs help

September 29 | poconut.com
Graham Nash has thoughtfully donated a prize to be won, along with several
other name musicians, for this upcoming "auction" to raise funds to help pay
for the medical care for original Poco drummer George Grantham.
You may know that George Grantham had a debilitating stroke while on stage
in performance in (ironically enough) Springfield, Mass in the summer of
2004. George played on Neil Young's first solo album.
Richie Furay along with Jim Messina, founded Poco after Buffalo Springfield

As part of the trip, Neil and his crew are filming a documentary of their travels and the folks they meet along the way.

Neil Young is considered to be the third most covered artist of all time, at least as ranked by the article "Purple Words on a Grey Background: Four Decades of Neil Young Covers" by Phil Dellio in
Stylus

The article does a pretty comprehensive job laying out artists that have covered the classics as well as the obscurities.
"Chrome Dreams II"
- True 2007 studio version?
2007 |
September 14 | thrasherswheat.org
There's been a fair amount of discussion about whether "Chrome Dreams II" is a true 2007 studio version or some hybrid 1988 version.
On first listen, it looks that this is all 2007. Although on second listen, it does seem that the background vocals are more in line with the 1988 era. Also, given that the lyrics are the same, it seems most likely this is a 1988 studio recording.

Graham
Nash and David Crosby (as well as Jackson Browne, Keb' Mo', Emily Saliers, John Hall and Krishna Das)
will join a group of interfaith leaders for Pray for Peace. The October 16 event will take place at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. The evening will consist of two parts: a prayer ceremony featuring multi-phonic Tibetan chanting followed by a benefit program of acoustic music and spiritual reflections.
Tickets go on sale September 7 through
ticketmaster.com and at
livenation.com. Proceeds from the event benefit the International Campaign for Tibet and Washington National Cathedral's Center for Global Justice and
Reconcilitation.
Pray for Peace began as a collaborative effort between Graham Nash and Bishop John Bryson Chane after the Dalai Lama visited Washington National Cathedral in 2003 to promote the concept of universal responsibility. The pair vowed to make the event a reality when the Dalai Lama returned to the capital. The Nobel Peace Prize recipient will receive the Congressional Gold Medal October 17 from Congress for "his enduring and outstanding contributions to peace, non-violence, human rights and religious understanding."

during which he lived in Topanga Canyon, Calif., and scores of previously unreleased studio
tracks.
Young is expected to tour in October, but for now, his only confirmed dates are next weekend at Farm Aid in

NY Times
(Neil Young Times) comes word of bonus CDs that will accompany Neil
Young's "Chrome Dreams II". The bonus CDs will include a track from the Toronto 'Riverboat' performances in February 1968. The news confirms that 'The Riverboat' will be disc 1 of the Archives Performance Series and will be included in the Archives Volume 1.
It appears that selected retail outlets will each have a different track. So if you go to enough stores and purchase enough versions, you can conceivably put together your own 'The Riverboat' and not have to wait until 2008.

Neil Young plays new
record
2007 |
August 17 | neilyoung.com
NY Times, August 16, 2007 -- Continuing a tradition that goes back to 1969, Neil Young played his latest recording for Reprise yesterday. The recording was played for about 100 people in Burbank. Produced by "The Volume Dealers," NY and Niko Bolas, the recording runs 60+ minutes and includes two giant songs that time in at 18:30 and 13:00, respectively. Drawing from three songs written previously, and 7 new songs, the latest Neil Young is a very diverse recording. A release date is unknown at this time. The title is Chrome Dreams II. Chrome Dreams is a legendary NY album from 1977 that had originally been scheduled for release but was shelved. The original cover for Chrome Dreams was created by Neil's long-time producer and friend, the late David Briggs. Unfortunately, all original documentation and art for this album was lost in a fire that destroyed Neil's Malibu home in early 1978. From a WEA schedule release sheet: "New cd Chrome Dream tentatively scheduled Oct. 16. Touring for 7 weeks beginning Oct. 13. Performing at Farm Aid Sept 9 & Bridge School Oct 27-28. To be determined date in 2008 cd & dvd archive set includes 8 cds, 3 dvds, & 160 page book in box packaging."

Greendale goes Graffic 2007 |
August 6 | publishersweekly.com
It's been a CD, a concert/stage play, a film, a book and a DVD. Now comes word that Greendale will become a graphic novel -- a fancy name for a comic book.
According to
Publishers Weekly, Vertigo Publishing executive editor Karen Berger said:
"I met Neil about year ago. He approached us. He loves comics and he’s been following all the attention for graphic novels that’s going on. The book will reflect Young’s activist bent, much like the rest of his creative work. It’s his baby, and he’ll have a big hand in producing the book and promoting it later
on."

June 5 | 4waysite.com
Rumor has it that
the new Stills CD called "Just Roll tape" (from Rhino Records)
will be available on July 10. It is a collection that features 12 Previously Unreleased Demos from Historic 1968 Session.
"Just Roll tape" presents remastered versions of the 12 songs Stills recorded with engineer John Haney at Elektra Studios in New York City. An amazing glimpse into Stills’ songwriting genius, the recordings spotlight Stills’ instantly recognizable voice accompanied only by his acoustic guitar. The album includes the first recordings of future CSN hits “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” “Helplessly Hoping,” and “Wooden Ships.”
Also included are early versions of songs that would emerge on Stills’ solo albums such as “Black Queen” from his 1970 self-titled debut along with “Change Partners” and “Know You’re Got To Run” from his 1971 follow-up. “So Begins The Task” appears here almost four years before it was recorded by Manassas, the legendary group Stills formed in 1972. As a bonus, the collection is bolstered by a track not recorded during the April 26 session
— the first demo of fan favorite “Treetop Flyer,” which showcases Stills singing and playing
dobro.

He gets tired after a long haul on the road but he is a hell of a trooper. He loves being in a band. He is still going strong even after all the brutal things his heath went through. He is singing very good right now. He has not lost any chops on his vocals. " Right now Joe Vitale is touring with Stills.

Graham
Nash says David Crosby is doing much better
2007 | May 7 |
therockradio.com
David Crosby was dealing with some health issues earlier this year,
which caused two tours to be postponed, but he's doing much better now.
That's the word from Graham Nash. The exact nature of Crosby's problems were never explained, but Nash told
that it was a shoulder problem more common to pitchers and quarterbacks
than rock stars: "It was a bone spur that was ripping into his
rotator cuff and causing him a tremendous amount of pain. He wasn't able
to sleep, he was taking pain killers, you know, just to deal with the
pain, and even that situation worried David a lot, because he admits he's
got an addictive personality, and he just didn't want to go down that road
of being addicted to painkillers."
Crosby has since had surgery to deal with the issue, and Nash said his
old friend is doing "remarkably well."
Now that he's better, the shows have been rescheduled. The U.S. dates
for Crosby-Nash that were supposed to happen from mid-March to mid-April
have been pushed back to October, while the Crosby, Stills & Nash gigs
in Australia and New Zealand that would have run from February 17th to
March 4th will now begin November 27th and run to December 15th.

2007 | April
24 | NME.com
Neil
Young has helped out on his wife's debut album. Pegi Young, has toured as a backing vocalist for her husband, Neil for
years. Pegi Young's self-titled LP will come out on June 12, and features
her husband on a variety of instruments. The album will feature the tracks
"Heterosexual Masses," "Fake," "Love Like
Water," and covers of songs by Spooner Oldham and Dan Penn.
Speaking about her husband's input, Pegi told Reuters: "Leading
up to it, I put the band together and we just sort of avoided discussing
whether Neil was going to play on it or not. He dropped by the first day
and kind of listened, and the next day, the guys at the studio had wisely
created a little space for him, should he want to participate at all. And
then he just ended up playing on everything, all the way though.
Stephen Stills Tour -
Updated
2007 | April
22 | 4waysite.com
In reviewing the set list we received from Stephen Stills' April 20,
Collingswood, New Jersey, show, we noticed that he has added quite a few
chestnuts to the show, along with familiar favorites, of course:

Autobiography

The Stills tour has only just begun and we found another article with
interesting news about Stills. Stephen Stills: "It's a good time in my life to reflect. The only big problem I
have, is the timeline. There are periods where I can't remember what
happened, so I have to research myself. Graham doesn't remember the same stuff I do. David doesn't remember the same stuff I do.
But I'm writing in my own hand, not ghosting. My 10th-grade English teacher, who told me I had a real talent for writing, would never forgive
me."
Stills expects his book project to take a while, as he's producing a few pages per day at the typewriter.
Story behind Stephen Stills' forthcoming CD...
2007 | April
20 | courierpostonline.com
The story behind Stephen Stills' forthcoming CD, "Stephen Stills: Just Roll Tape" sounds like something out of an episode of Antiques Road Show. Stephen Stills: "It's from a session of demos that I did April 26,
1968. Basically I needed to get all the songs that I'd written for the first Crosby Stills & Nash album, and for my first solo album, down in some form or another.
So I just walked in after a session I had done with Judy Collins, I think, and I bought (the time in) the studio after she was gone and said, "Just roll tape.'"
CSNY to attend Ertegun
memorial in NY - Updated
2007 | April
18 | 4waysite.com
Yesterday rock icons such as Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Stevie Nicks,
and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young gathered at New York's Lincoln Center
to pay tribute to the Atlantic Records chairman, who died December 14 at
83. Jagger remembered his boss at Atlantic as "the wicked uncle with the
wicked chuckle," saying he could never keep up with the dapper Turk.
As one would expect, "Ahmet Ertegun: A Celebration" was
largely a musical affair. Crosby, Stills & Nash took on the Beatles'
"In My Life" before Neil Young joined them for "Helplessly
Hoping" and Young coupled with Stephen Stills on "Mr. Soul".

First Pick of the Month:
Exclusive Online Premiere!
2007 | March
25 | 4waysite.com
It gives
us great pleasure to announce this exclusive online premiere: 4waysite.com asked Dave Zimmer (author of
"Crosby, Stills & Nash: The Biography" and "4 Way Street, the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Reader") for an
interview and he was happy to oblige...
Dave Zimmer takes you backstage, in the studio and into the homes of
CSNY, and provides a remarkable, authentic picture of life with CSNY in all their many forms. He can definitely be considered a CSNY insider. Also featuring some previously unpublished photos by Henry Diltz.
"New" is also a very interesting interview from 1979with Stephen
Stills, from Dave Zimmer's archives that is now reissued by 4waysite.com.
The second volume of Neil Young's long-promised, suddenly thriving Archives series
"Live at Massey Hall", has debuted at # 6 on Billboard. It's
been 12 years since that happened for Neil. "Live at Massey Hall" is also released as a two-disc set that contained a CD of the show and a DVD containing the same concert in high fidelity audio.
Neil Young: "This is the album that should have come out between 'After The Gold Rush' and 'Harvest'. David Briggs, my producer, was adamant that this should be the record, but I was very excited about the takes we got on 'Harvest,' and wanted 'Harvest' out. David disagreed. As I listen to this today, I can see why".

Stephen Stills planning archival release
2007 | March
15 | therockradio.com
Stills was at the Rock Hall ceremony to pay tribute to Ertegun, whom he
called "A true, complete original." He added, "We
shall never see his like again in our lifetimes. God bless you, Ahmet." But... Stills also said that he's got an
archival release on the way, which
will feature his demos for the music from the first Crosby, Stills & Nash album in 1969 and from his self-titled solo debut in 1970. While there, Stills revealed that
David Crosby is doing well (as
you could read on 4waysite.com a week ago) and is recovering from recent
surgery on his shoulder.

Stephen

2007 | March

Tonight Stephen Stills gave a wonderful speech about Ahmet Ertegun
during the 22nd annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony at
the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. Ahmet Ertegun, who helped define
American music as the founder of Atlantic Records (a label that
popularized CSNY) and a co-founder of the Hall of Fame, died on December
15, 2006.
Members of R.E.M., the Furious Five and the Ronettes were joined onstage by
Smith, Keith Richards, Stephen Stills and Eddie Vedder for a raucous version of Smith's
"People Have the Power."

2007 | March
2 | ghostsontheroad.co.uk
The first edition of Ghosts On The Road was published in 1996 and immediately became
recognized as a valuable resource for Neil Young enthusiasts worldwide. The updated and revised edition will be published in early 2007 and will contain additional chapters relating to the years 1996 through to 2006 together with considerable expansion of many previous chapters.
Last year Italian musician and writer (three-volume encyclopedia on
CSNY) Stefano Frollano released a (Italian) book about Neil Young called "Neil Young - Discografia
illustrata". But next week Stefano Frollano will publish along with Salvatore Esposito a brand new book on
CSN. It's a 120 pages format with 4
chapters: the biography, the discography, a chapter with some interviews and a chapter dedicated to the CSN's heirs.
The book premiere will be celebrated on next April 6, 2007 in Rome, Italy at Classico Village club. The show will start at 9.00/9.30 p.m. with some CSN rare footages and the book premiere. David Crosby & Graham
appearance on Gilmour's live CD/DVD
2007 | March

Although David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) took more than two decades between solo albums, it appears that the Pink Floyd guitarist is making up for lost time with two forthcoming live
CD/DVD releases.
The musician will release a live two-disc set titled Remember That Night. According to Gilmour's website, the first disc will contain footage culled from three concerts at London, England's Royal Albert Hall last May supporting his On An Island solo album. The shows featured guest appearances from
Graham Nash, David Crosby, Robert Wyatt, Mica Paris, David Bowie and Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, and included the entire new album and some Floyd classics.

January 23 | musicbox.com and 4waysite.com
Neil Young is preparing a major boxed set of material for release in
fall. The set, which is titled "Archives Volume I", will feature
8 CDs and 2 DVDs of previously unreleased studio and concert material. As we said previously said, on March 13, Neil Young will issue another installment in his
archival series of concert recordings. The set, which comes closely on the heels of
"Live at the Fillmore East", will feature a January 19, 1971 performance in Toronto. Dubbed Live at Massey Hall, the
collection will feature renditions of Ohio, I Am a Child, The Needle and the Damage Done, and Old Man.

documentary, he says, will be more ambitious than merely a concert film. "It's a movie that we'd take to the festivals and try to win with," Crosby
notes.

but three of his mid-70's albums for CBS will be digitally remastered,

Did you know Stephen Stills was the first musician who recorded
digitally? He went into the studio in 1979 and cut
an album with the then-revolutionary digital recording system. So his 1979
version of "Cherokee" was the first digitally recorded rock
song. More information like this can be found in the FAQ section.
